Now that was god timing, the day after I put up my blog 'Orange zone, Im sick of it', we were rezoned.
Our block, Brookhaven/Ferrymead changed zoning from Orange to Green. BUT as we all know life is often a challenge, and nothing comes easy, or for free. Although rezoned to Green, they have classified us under Technical Code 3 (TC3). Some will know what that means. if not, there's plenty of info online. (Huge amount more than there was about the announcement) I watched online as people were desperate to find where the latest news or the briefing was going to be heard, what it said etc etc........Man it was sad seeing people desperate like that, only wanting to know what their future may hold, to move on with life (And I was one of those people).
I read a lot of stuff online over the weekend and it was obvious that we had only been handed back the seats we were in before 'EQ zoning' came about in Canterbury.
Now don't get me wrong, Im not moaning Im only stating what I see and read and how I interpret it. In a perfect world we would all having our lifes rebuilt now at the same time, all get the home we wanted, no issues and noone lost out, but that would be a boring world. Lifes experience just give us more weapons of knowledge to deal with life and what it deals out.
For sure we can now start our battle with EQC/Insurance, but looming above is the 'TC3' label. Anyone whose Piles/Foundations are to be rebuilt or repiled must be under the new Code for foundations or whatever its called when it is made official and test results confirmed. The Pile/foundation test results won't be known till approx Dec, then they say it will be official in Feb 2012.
With this in mind I have so many questions. However I thought it best to document each day starting 28th Oct, so I can look back on this and have precise information onhand. Each night Im going to try to add a post as to how that day panned out.
Next post was exactly what I expected to happen regarding my pipes/drains...................
Some questions:
Whose responsible for paying for my pipes that have gutted my garden and lawn, plus driveway?
When is it unhygenic to have overflowing waster water/sewage?
Who cares?
How long will it be before the thought of remeidation on my land?
How long will that take?
Silly me, didn't have Contents insurance so are not eligible for temp accomodation, but when do you know the border of being eligible for your certain situation, if any?
Does the Heathcote river have a chance at being bought back to life? (Yeah ok a different subject just throwing it in)
I am guessing that the 'TC3' will be on lour LIM asap.
So when I hear the pricing and outcome of the DRA report, I sit back and wait for the new code, remediation of land, then house started on/pulled down?
Will that be years?
So many more questions but getting tired so my memorys not awake :)
How do we know if CERA are expecting us to work in with other property owners on land remediation, will CERA keep us updated on what to do next, or advise us if so many properties have to be remediated at the same time, or house by house?
